Volunteer Opportunities 2010

The committees, subcommittees and work groups identified below represent the groups that currently have openings for 2010. New groups may be added as projects develop throughout the year. Space is limited for each work group listed. Once the slots are filled, a waiting list will be developed. Each work group listed below meets on a regular basis by conference call. Active and consistent participation is expected.

Quality Improvement Committee—Work Group Opportunities:

  • Quality Information and Tools—The Quality Information and Tools work group was an integral part of the Quality Improvement Case Studies Registry development. This group will be charged with reviewing case studies and developing topic specific reports from case studies submitted. The work group will meet as needed.
  • Quality Awards—The Quality Awards work group will oversee the Quality Impact Awards program that culminates with awards given at The Forum 10, Oct. 13 to 15, 2010, in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities will include reviewing and modifying award criteria and selecting award recipients. The work group will meet as needed.
  • Market Trend—Now in its third year, the work group will oversee the development of the 2010 DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance Market Trend report. This will include survey review and refinement, data analysis, and report development. The work group will meet monthly from April 2010 through December 2010.
  • Transitions of Care—The goal of this group will be to explore quality improvement opportunities in transitions of care from an acute inpatient environment to an outpatient environment. The group will explore the role that DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance members play in successful transitions and prioritize projects for the year. The group will meet monthly from November 2009 through September 2010.
  • DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance Dictionary of Industry Terminology—DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance published a second edition of its terminology dictionary in December 2006 and has started the process to produce an updated version. The group goal will be to update current terms as well as add new terms to the dictionary that are relevant to the industry. Release date is tentatively scheduled for October 2010. This group will meet monthly from November 2009 through October 2010.

Outcomes Measurement and Methodology Committee

The goal of the committee is to oversee the work of topic specific work groups developing recommendations for the DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance Outcomes Guidelines Report. Members of the Outcomes Measurement and Methodology Committee must also commit to serve—or to designate another person from the same company to serve—on one of the topic specific work groups. The committee will present a full set of Outcomes Guidelines Recommendations to the Board of Directors, followed by publication of the report to be released at the The Forum 10 in October 2010. Although not required, participation in the face to face meeting of the full committee is encouraged.

Work Group Opportunities:

  • Selection Criteria—The work group will pilot test the criteria and offer final recommendations for modifications so that a final set of criteria can be released in the 2010 Outcomes Guidelines Report.
  • Operational Measures—The work group will further refine and define the flow diagram as well as the concepts and definitions embedded in the diagram. Measures will be developed that coincide with both the flow diagram as well as the definitions. The work group will pilot test the criteria and offer final recommendations for modifications so that a final set of criteria can be released in the 2010 Outcomes Guidelines Report.
  • Medication Adherence—The work group will expand on the work completed in 2009 to include the development of a self report measure of barriers to adherence.
  • Population Health Management/Expanded Methodology—The work group will expand on the PHM Framework developed in 2009, to include a health information technology overlay and an expansion of other areas identified by the group. In addition, the group will begin to develop a methodology for the evaluation of a PHM program which would include incorporating previous guidelines into the methodology.
  • Guidelines Medicaid Application—The work group will review the current set of DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance guidelines and modify them, as needed, for application in a Medicaid program.
